I am Roy van Harlingen, a 25-year-old adventurer driven by personal growth and discovery. In 2016, I began my military training, a period that taught me the essence of discipline and perseverance, which I successfully completed in 2019. This time in my life taught me the value of dedication and striving to be the best version of myself. My professional journey took an unexpected turn when I joined Smeg Outlet Amsterdam. Here, I immersed myself in the world of customer service, sales, and after-sales, which turned out to be a valuable addition to my professional skills. However, adventure called again, and in 2022, I found myself in beautiful Costa Rica. There, I worked at a surf school, an environment that reignited my old passion for surfing and inspired me to share my knowledge and experience with others. After an unforgettable time in Costa Rica, Mijntje and I returned to the Netherlands and settled in The Hague. Here, my love for surfing found a new stage when I took on the role of manager at a surf school in Scheveningen. My constant pursuit of personal growth led me to complete my training as an NLP Practitioner. These new skills opened doors to other exciting opportunities, including my role as a youth coach at Young Impact and as a recruiter at Young Capital. Now, I am about to embark on a new chapter in my life: establishing a surf school in El Salvador. In this exciting project, I will play a coordinating role, where I can share my passion, knowledge, and experience with others.

Currently, I serve as a youth coach, pedagogical counselor in rugby, and philosophy teacher in juvenile detention. After completing my training as an 'old school barber' in Rotterdam at Vagabond Barbers and gaining three years of work experience there, my interest grew in using the barbering profession as a means for social interaction, particularly with young people. Both inside and outside the prison, the profession turned out to offer many opportunities for young people without diplomas. My encounter with Roy opened the door to the world of surfing. Together, we developed the dream of establishing something abroad related to surfing and community contribution. We share a vision and passion to promote surfing and support people in their personal development. In this project, I will coordinate the barbershop and serve as a teacher for the barber course.
